Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Mechanic to manage the day-to-day operations of our garage shop in Goshen, NY. This hands-on leadership role involves overseeing a team of mechanics, ensuring efficient workflow, managing parts inventory, and maintaining quality control for all serviced equipment and trucks. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of diesel engines, excavating, heavy equipment, trucks, and hydraulic systems, alongside strong organizational and communication skills to coordinate cross-functional teams seamlessly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Lead, train, and supervise a team of mechanics, ensuring that all work meets high-quality standards and is completed efficiently.
  • Quality Control: Inspect and approve all equipment and trucks before they leave the shop, confirming that repairs and maintenance are thorough and comply with company standards.
  • Parts Management: Order necessary parts, manage inventory levels, and ensure timely procurement of materials to prevent servicing delays.
  • Client Communication: Provide timely and professional responses to client inquiries regarding repair status and equipment issues.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Collaborate with the service team to schedule repairs and coordinate with the logistics team for equipment delivery and return.
  • Billing: Ensure accurate billing for all services rendered, maintaining precise records of repairs, labor, and parts used.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Lead Mechanic or Shop Manager, particularly in diesel, excavating, heavy equipment, and hydraulic systems.
  • Strong mechanical expertise in truck and equipment repair.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and coordinate across various teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for client and team interactions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Familiarity with parts inventory management software.

Compensation:
$60,000 - $70,000 per year, based on experience.
