We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing team. The DON will oversee all aspects of nursing services, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while maintaining the highest standard of care for residents. This leadership role requires strong management skills, clinical expertise, and a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence within the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement nursing service objectives, policies, and procedures to ensure optimal resident care.
  • Oversee recruitment, hiring, training, and scheduling of nursing staff to maintain adequate staffing levels.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including state and federal guidelines.
  • Supervise and support the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), charge nurses, and nursing staff in daily operations.
  • Monitor resident care plans and ensure appropriate treatments, medications, and therapies are administered.
  • Conduct regular rounds to assess resident conditions and address any concerns.
  • Work closely with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive resident care.
  • Lead quality assurance initiatives and serve as chairperson for Quality Assurance meetings.
  • Investigate and address resident and family concerns regarding nursing services.
  • Oversee infection control and safety programs to maintain a healthy environment.
  • Prepare for state and federal inspections, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and adjust policies accordingly.
  • Ensure proper documentation of resident care and oversee medical records compliance.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for nursing staff and provide guidance for professional development.

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred; advanced certifications a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing leadership experience, preferably in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing administration, geriatric care, and rehabilitation services.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team while maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal nursing regulations.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred.

Compensation

  • Competitive salary from $110,000 - $130,000 based on experience.
