The 3PL Logistics Operations Manager serves as a cornerstone of our operational framework, taking on a critical leadership role to oversee the seamless execution of our logistics services. This position entails managing the daily activities related to transportation, warehousing, and distribution, ensuring that every element runs smoothly and aligns with our commitment to excellence. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the Operations Manager will lead and develop a team of logistics coordinators, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to provide top-tier service to our clients. Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage a team of logistics coordinators, providing guidance and oversight to ensure they perform at their best while consistently meeting company standards and expectations.
- Design and implement comprehensive training programs for logistics coordinators, focusing on the intricacies of freight coordination, operational workflows, and adherence to industry regulations, preparing the team to confidently address a variety of client demands.
- Oversee the detailed planning, coordination, and execution of freight transportation across multiple modes (ground, rail, sea, air), alongside warehousing and distribution services, ensuring deliveries are completed on time and within budget constraints.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement practical solutions to enhance operational efficiency, drawing on insights from day-to-day activities to elevate overall performance.
- Collaborate closely with clients to gain a thorough understanding of their logistics requirements, addressing concerns promptly and working diligently to resolve any issues that arise.
- Manage ongoing relationships with carriers and suppliers, skillfully negotiating rates and fostering partnerships that ensure reliable, high-quality service delivery.
- Track and analyze key performance metrics, compiling detailed reports for senior management to provide visibility into operational successes and areas for refinement.
- Ensure all logistics operations remain fully compliant with relevant transportation regulations, maintaining a steadfast commitment to safety and operational integrity.
- Assist in the development and management of the operations budget, carefully balancing cost control with the need to uphold exceptional service standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience that demonstrates a strong foundation in logistics principles (preferred, not required).
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, including at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity within a 3PL setting, showcasing a deep understanding of the industry.
- Proven ability to effectively manage and train a team of logistics coordinators, with a history of fostering teamwork and professional growth.
- Strong, hands-on knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), enabling efficient oversight of complex logistics operations.
- Thorough understanding of freight transportation modes (ground, rail, sea, air), intermodal logistics, and the nuances of cross-border operations, reflecting a well-rounded logistics expertise.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, essential for engaging with team members, clients, and external partners in a clear and professional manner.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with a proactive mindset geared toward tackling operational challenges and driving continuous improvement.
- Fluency in English required to ensure effective communication across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
Compensation
- Base salary range of $95,000 - $105,000 CAD annually, commensurate with experience and aligned with industry standards for a role of this caliber.
