We represent a growing hospice organization seeking a dynamic Executive Director to lead the launch and expansion of a new branch in Wichita, KS. This is a high-impact leadership role for a results-driven professional with a strong background in hospice sales and operations. The ideal candidate will drive business development, oversee operations, ensure compliance, and lead a high-performing team. Relocation assistance is available for candidates.
The Executive Director will quarterback the expansion of this new location, initially focusing on business development (BD) before transitioning into full operational leadership. Reporting to the VP of New Starts, this role is responsible for driving patient census growth, managing the BD team, ensuring compliance, overseeing daily operations, and maintaining financial stability. The ideal candidate has strong sales expertise in hospice, coupled with leadership experience in home-based care or hospice facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development & Growth:
- Establish and expand hospice presence in Wichita through strategic referral partnerships.
- Lead a sales-focused BD team to meet and exceed growth goals.
- Develop and execute aggressive marketing and outreach strategies.
- Build strong relationships with hospitals, physicians, and senior care providers.
- Operational Leadership & Compliance:
- Oversee staffing, compliance, and service delivery to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Ensure adherence to all legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements for hospice operations.
- Monitor service utilization to ensure delivery of comprehensive care.
- Maintain high ethical and legal standards in all business and patient care practices.
- Ensure hospice services meet Medicare Hospice Certification requirements and all applicable regulations.
- Financial & Strategic Oversight:
- Monitor financial performance, overseeing budgeting and cost management.
- Ensure financial stability and profitability while maintaining quality of care.
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve operational and strategic growth targets.
- Work closely with senior leadership and provide regular reports to the governing body.
- Team Development & Leadership:
- Recruit, train, and develop a top-performing BD and clinical team.
- Provide strong leadership and mentorship to drive a high-performance culture.
- Foster collaboration between BD, clinical, and administrative teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure adequate and appropriate staffing levels for patient care and operational efficiency.
- Implement staff education, ongoing training, and professional development initiatives.
- Quality, Patient Care, & Community Engagement:
- Ensure high-quality patient care through interdisciplinary collaboration and best practices.
- Address patient concerns and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Maintain strong community outreach to keep staff and operations aligned with industry trends.
- Ensure the organization stays informed on local and national hospice trends and regulatory changes.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-3 years of hospice industry experience.
- Background in hospice sales, BD, operations, or leadership required.
- Prior leadership experience in a hospice agency, home health, or senior care setting.
- Strong knowledge of Medicare Hospice Certification and regulatory compliance.
- Proven ability to drive sales and growth in hospice or healthcare settings.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to transition from BD-focused role to full operational leadership.
- High level of emotional intelligence and patient-centered leadership approach.
- Bachelor's degree preferred (healthcare, business, or related field).
- Willingness to relocate to Wichita, KS (relocation assistance provided).
- Candidates with BD and some operational experience preferred.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base Salary: $125,000 - $150,000 (based on experience).
- Commission: 25% uncapped commission (Over-Achiever Bonus).
- Additional profit-sharing bonus for exceeding branch growth targets.
