Highrise Group NY is a dynamic architectural and expediting firm based in Brooklyn, New York, with a secondary office in Jackson, New Jersey. Our team of 11 professionals generates $3.5 million annually, delivering comprehensive services to real estate developers and property owners across NYC’s five boroughs. We specialize in architectural design, permit expediting, violation removal, construction management, and real estate consulting, navigating the complexities of NYC’s regulatory landscape. As we position for a strategic exit within 24 months, targeting a $10–15 million valuation, we seek a licensed professional to support our projects and share in the financial rewards of our planned sale.
Highrise Group NY is seeking a Licensed Engineer or Architect to serve as our key professional for approving and sealing project plans on a project-based, remote basis. This role is tailored for a seasoned professional who prefers minimal operational involvement, leveraging their New York State license to provide approvals while earning significant per-project fees and a percentage of the company’s sale proceeds upon exit within 24 months. Ideal candidates are experienced professionals (or highly motivated newcomers) who can commit exclusively to Highrise Group NY for licensure activities. The role requires no in-office presence, offering full flexibility to work from home, and focuses primarily on providing the professional seal for compliance with NYC regulations, with no expectation of drafting or operational duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional engineering or architectural seal on project plans to ensure compliance with NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) and other regulatory requirements.
- Review architectural and engineering drawings for accuracy and adherence to NYC building codes and zoning regulations.
- Collaborate remotely with project managers and expediters to facilitate timely permit approvals.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NYC building codes, landmarks preservation, and environmental regulations (or willingness to consult provided resources).
- Commit exclusively to Highrise Group NY for all professional licensure and sealing activities.
- Support the firm’s strategic exit plan by ensuring all projects meet regulatory standards, potentially assisting with minimal documentation for due diligence during the sale process.
- Provide timely responses to project approval requests, typically requiring minimal time commitment per project.
Qualifications
- Required: Valid Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) license in the state of New York.
- No specific professional experience required; suitable for newly licensed professionals or seasoned experts seeking a low-effort, high-reward role.
- Ability to commit exclusively to Highrise Group NY for all professional licensure and sealing activities.
- Basic understanding of NYC building codes and regulations (or willingness to learn through provided resources).
- Ability to work remotely with reliable communication for project-based assignments.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Interest in participating in the company’s exit strategy, with a focus on financial rewards from the sale.
- Preferred: Experienced professionals who prefer minimal involvement and are comfortable providing approvals without operational responsibilities.
Compensation and Benefits
- Project-Based Fees: Earn $50,000–$70,000 annually through per-project fees, determined by project type and complexity, for providing licensure and approvals.
- Equity Incentive: A percentage of the company’s sale proceeds upon exit (targeted within 24 months, estimated valuation $10–15 million; equity percentage, approximately 10%, to be finalized during negotiations).
- Flexibility: Fully remote role with no in-office requirements, ideal for professionals seeking minimal time commitment.
- Low Effort, High Reward: Focus solely on providing professional seals and approvals, with no drafting, design, or operational responsibilities.
- Opportunity to align with a high-growth firm poised for a significant exit, offering substantial financial upside with minimal workload.
- Particularly appealing to experienced professionals who wish to leverage their license for project fees and a share of the company sale while maintaining a flexible, low-commitment schedule.
